Access CrisLan over the internet with NetBird
A local Host IP address is usually not reachable from another network. In the external-access method tested with CrisLan, NetBird provides private connectivity between PCs. CrisLan separately manages pairing and desktop control.
Prepare both computers
Install CrisLan Host on the remote PC and Viewer on your own PC. Separately install NetBird on both from its official source, then join the same NetBird organisation. You can use the same account for your own PCs. Do not share passwords between people.
NetBird is a separate product, not a cloud service included with CrisLan. It offers a Free plan subject to provider limits; check the current offer before choosing a plan. Free NetBird access does not replace a Host licence.
Which IP belongs in Viewer?
Check that both devices are connected in NetBird and find the Host NetBird IP. Use that exact address, not the Viewer IP, router IP or an example address.
Enable access in Host, generate a CrisLan code, then add the Host NetBird IP and eight-character code in Viewer. CrisLan pairing, licence activation and NetBird sign-in serve different purposes.
An existing entry with a local IP does not automatically become a NetBird connection. Use the entry saved with the NetBird address when connecting from another network.
Both PCs are online, but the connection fails
Online status alone does not prove that NetBird policies allow communication. Check organisation membership, device approval and access rules. Windows Firewall also applies to the virtual adapter.
Keep Windows protections enabled and do not open router ports as an improvised fix. Ask your administrator to check the rules and retain the exact error message.
After a restart and when revoking access
Keep NetBird connected on both PCs and CrisLan access enabled on Host. Check whether NetBird requires another sign-in.
To remove a Viewer authorisation, revoke it in CrisLan Host. Removing a device from NetBird does not revoke its saved CrisLan pairing.
