CRISLAN GUIDE · WINDOWS
Remote desktop over your local network with CrisLan
Access the existing Windows session on a PC in your office, workshop or another room. On the same local network, CrisLan needs neither NetBird nor a separate central CrisLan server.
What to install on each PC
Install Host on the PC you want to access and Viewer on the PC you connect from. Viewer is free and Host offers a 14-day trial. Installing on the Host requires administrator privileges.
Both PCs must be powered on and connected to a network that allows them to communicate. Guest Wi-Fi can isolate devices even when both have internet access.
Your first connection, step by step
Open Host administration and confirm the Windows UAC prompt. Enable access, including after restart, and check that Host reports access as enabled.
Prepare Viewer, then generate an eight-character code in Host. In Add PC, enter the Host IP address and the temporary pairing code, not the licence key emailed after purchase. The pairing code expires after five minutes and can be used once.
Save the PC and connect. Sessions initially open in view-only mode. Choose Take control only when you need the Host mouse and keyboard and have permission to use them.
If the Host does not respond
Check the IP address, the access status in Host and that both PCs are on the same network. On a trusted local network, Host must use the Windows Private or Domain profile. Do not change a public network to private or disable the firewall.
For company-managed rules, ask your administrator to check access. Send support the exact error message without passwords, pairing codes or licence keys.
Connecting again
Under normal conditions, saved pairing remains authorised until revoked in Host. You do not need a new code for each connection. The PC must remain powered on, reachable and have CrisLan access enabled.
